  • Consistently rated Five Stars
  • Small & local business friendly
  • Reliable, Affordable, Flexible

Just ask yourself these SIMPLE questions

In an industry saturated with digital marketing agencies, many claim to have unique approaches to guarantee success for their clients.

So when multiple agencies employ identical strategies, HOW can they stand apart?

Claiming impartiality and promising unique results becomes a PARADOX in such a landscape. They can't all be number one, so how do they TRULEY differentiate themselves? How can they ASSURE clients that their methods are tailored and not just a one-size-fits-all solution?

This challenges not only the integrity of the promises made but also the authenticity of each agency's approach. Clients must question and explore beyond surface-level pledges to understand what genuinely sets an agency apart in a world where many are singing the same tune."

When we say that we are DIFFERENT we mean it.

We only take on ONE client per business type in any given postcode area. This ensures we remain impatial and alows us to concentrate on delivering the best possible results for your business.

We will adopt your exsisting web site and then start to rebuild it from the ground up so it becomes a fully functional, high performance, lead generating progressive web application.

We will take your current marketing budget and then re-allocate it to ensure you get the best possible return on your investment, we will also look to REDUCE your monthly spending whilst achieving better results.

Everything we build is designed to maximise your Google Lighthouse score, and we will continue to work on this until we achieve a score of 100% across all metrics.

Our marketing strategies are designed to deliver results, we will not waste your money on ineffective campaigns, we will only focus on what works and what will deliver the best possible results for your business.

We will look after all of your social media accounts, and will post regular updates to ensure your business is always in the spotlight. We will also manage your Google My Business account to ensure you are always at the top of the search results.

Our web code is perfect, everything we do is checked against the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) after all they invented the web, so who better to check our work.

Every digital agency will run a report on your web site, but we will run a report on your competitors web sites too, this will allow us to see what they are doing and how we can do it better.

We use our own in-house AI to monitor your web site and social media accounts, this allows us to make changes and updates in real time, ensuring your business is always at the top of its game.

So you see why we really don't need loads of trendy people with sales & marketing degrees or fancy offices with beer fridges and pool tables, we just need proper clever computer programmers that understand how the world wide web, Google and social media platforms like Facebook work.

WHY are you still paying for a service that doesn’t deliver results ? just call the experts

Firstly have a quick read of the following taken directly from the "Google SEO sales and marketing manual" its a little dull but this is the basis for ALL SEO work regardless of which company is doing the work.

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a digital marketing strategy that focuses on improving a website’s visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs). The goal of SEO is to increase the quantity and quality of organic ( non-paid ) traffic to a website. This is achieved by optimising various on-page and off-page elements of the website, as well as improving the user experience for visitors.

SEO involves a range of techniques and strategies, including keyword research, on-page optimisation, link building, and content creation.

Keyword research involves identifying the words and phrases that potential customers are searching for in search engines, and creating content around those keywords. On-page optimisation involves optimising various on-page elements, such as titles, headings, and meta descriptions, to make them more appealing to search engines.

Link building is the process of acquiring high-quality links from other websites back to your own website. This is important because search engines view links as a sign of authority and trustworthiness. Finally, content creation involves creating high-quality, engaging content that is relevant to your target audience. This not only helps to attract visitors to your website, but also helps to establish your business as an authority in your industry. In summary, SEO is a digital marketing strategy that focuses on improving a website’s visibility in search engine results pages. It involves a range of techniques and strategies, including keyword research, on-page optimisation, link building, and content creation. By implementing these techniques and strategies, businesses can increase the quantity and quality of organic traffic to their website, and establish themselves as an authority in their industry.

We wrote a seperate article on the myths behing SEO.
So please feel free to click here if you really want to read more about SEO

We also wrote a fake article on the magical industry who claim SEO is something it's not. We did this to demonstrate to a client that simply blinding them with technical jargon is standard SEO agency practice.
See what you think click here

So you want more business but don’t know where to start?

Google has explained what is required but like most people, you do not have the time, skills or inclination to sit down and work on your own media strategy so you either pump money into expensive cost-per-click campaigns or spend a fortune on hiring an SEO expert and digital marketing team.

Remember Google has already stated "The goal of SEO is to increase the quantity and quality of organic ( non-paid ) traffic to a website." At no point does Google say you have to pay for it, thats what Non-Paid means !

There really should be a government warning about this obsession with SEO - Search Engine Obsession

STOP right there, you don’t need to do any of this, we have a much better solution.

If the same digital agency runs SEO campaigns for multiple businesses with the same target audience, concerns can arise about impartiality.

For example, if two different businesses in the same industry with the same target audience hire the same SEO agency, the agency may be tempted to use the same keywords, strategies, or even content for both businesses.

Using the same website template to create two websites can result in different-looking websites because the designer can add unique colors, text, and images.

However, search engines view the two websites as very similar because they are based on the same template.

If your business is using the exact same methods as your commercial rivals to generate web content how can you win the competition for more customers, when all you are really doing is copying them copying you.?

Imagine the SEO plugin as a big set of instructions that tells your website what to do, these instructions are like a recipe for a cake.

If you follow the recipe step by step, you will get the same cake every time. In the same way, when you use a SEO plugin program, you are following a set of instructions that tell the computer what to do.

No matter who is using the program, the instructions are the same, and the software will always do the same thing. So, even if two SEO agencies are using the same program for their clients, the program will follow the same set of rules for both of them.

It’s like two people making the same cake using the same recipe – they will get the same cake because they are following the same set of instructions.

Think different - Think smart

google ads on mobile phone

Google themselves publish hundreds of high quality research papers each year on a variety of subjects, including technology drifts, artificial intelligence (AI) search algorithms, even publishing details of how online cost-per-click often favoured by SEO firms is no match for the algorithms used in auto-bidding to optimise return on spend with near-perfect optimal regret.

Read that last bit again.

“Near-perfect optimal regret”

Okay, let us imagine you have to make decisions but you don’t have all the information you need.

You have to make the best decision you can with the information you have. Sometimes, you might not make the best decision and wish you had made a different choice. Regret is how much you wish you had made a different choice after you see the results of your decision.

Near Perfect Optimal Regret means that even though you don’t have all the information you need to make the best decision, you make decisions that are almost as good as if you had all the information. It’s like playing a game where you can’t see everything, but you make really good guesses and almost always win.

To do that, you need to be really good at understanding the game and making good choices based on what you do know.

Google tells you what you need to be doing to win the game, and yet many continue to throw large sums of money into SEO projects that may have worked 20 years ago, and would have still worked to a certain extent until the development of the smartphone [circa 2007] when the entire playbook was re-written, but now we are all using the 7th generation of that technology those old SEO rules no longer apply.

Google has published a number of research papers on the subject of SEO and how it is no longer fit for purpose, and how it is now a waste of money for most businesses.

Google themselves have told you that the goal of SEO is to increase the quantity and quality of organic ( non-paid ) traffic to a website. Non paid traffic really does exclude COST PER CLICK ADVERTISING so why waste money doing something that does not win you more business?

Summary We encourage you to visit the Google Research pages [] and look carefully at how your current SEO agency is more than likely just holding you back along with everyone else and ultimately how much you think that position is worth to you. We would like to show you how paying large sums for SEO is pointless if you are only repeating what you are doing over and over for very little gain and how trying to compete on a perfectly level playing field is futile when Google will nearly always win.

red and white lighthouse

Google Lighthouse

Google Lighthouse is an open-source, automated tool designed to help developers (and business owners) diagnose issues and identify opportunities to improve the quality of their web pages. It can be run on any web page, whether it requires authentication or not. Lighthouse provides audits for performance, accessibility, progressive web apps (PWAs), SEO, and more.

Performance: Lighthouse analyses how fast a web page loads and offers insights into what could be slowing it down. Metrics include Time to Interactive, Speed Index, Largest Contentful Paint, and others.

The tool checks for common issues that could prevent users from accessing the content on the site. This is particularly important for users who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers

Lighthouse identifies areas where a web page adheres to or deviates from web development best practices, such as using HTTPS, correct image aspect ratios, and more.

By analysing various elements that affect search engine optimization, Lighthouse helps ensure that a web page is structured in a way that makes it easily discoverable by search engines.

Lighthouse assesses whether a web page meets the criteria for being a Progressive Web App, which includes being served over HTTPS, having a responsive design, and more

Version 10 (2023) of Lighthouse also include checks for user experience metrics such as layout stability and responsiveness to input.

You can run Lighthouse in several ways, including through Chrome DevTools, from the command line, or as a Node module. The tool provides a report with scores for different categories and detailed guidance on what to fix, what to consider fixing, and what’s been done well. By providing specific, actionable insights, Google Lighthouse assists in building web pages that are fast, accessible, and user-friendly, aligned with modern web standards. It has become an essential tool for developers and website owners looking to optimise their online presence. You can run Lighthouse against any website, even those of your competitors, that way you can see what they are doing well and how your site directly compares.

  • Step 5.

Click on the ANALYSE PAGE LOAD button

  • Step 6.

Wait for the report to complete

You will now see a scorecard that looks like the one in the example below.

Image Description

The scores are self-explanatory, providing an insightful snapshot of a website's performance across various dimensions.

Divided into categories like Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, SEO, and Progressive Web App, the metrics evaluate critical aspects of the site's user experience.

Performance measures how quickly the site loads and becomes interactive, while Accessibility focuses on how easily the site can be used by all people, including those with disabilities. Best Practices looks at modern standards, and SEO examines search engine optimisation.

Finally, the Progressive Web App category gauges how closely the site meets standards for providing a high-quality experience on mobile devices.

Collectively, these scores offer a comprehensive view of a site's strengths and areas for improvement, making them an essential tool for developers and stakeholders aiming to enhance web usability and effectiveness.

Each of the scores should at least be in the GREEN segment, perfect 100% scores are almost impossible but can be achieved with a tonne of hard work and masses of effort. If you checked your own website (everyone does) and you pay someone to manage your SEO let's hope you got a great score!

If you didn't get a great score, don't worry, we can help you get there, and we can do it for a fraction of the cost of your current SEO agency.

QUICK TIP Try running Lighthouse on your FIVE nearest competitors and see what score they get, as long as your website scores better than theirs you're onto a winner

BULLSH*T WARNING One of our new clients reported recently that a rather large and expensive digital marketing agency had claimed that Lighthouse scores meant nothing and that their tools were more valuable.

It is essential to recognise that Google offers Lighthouse FOR A REASON. By providing a comprehensive evaluation of a site's performance, accessibility, SEO, and adherence to best practices, Lighthouse gives site owners a valuable tool for optimising their web presence.

It aligns with Google's emphasis on user experience and site quality, directly impacting search rankings. Ignoring Lighthouse scores mean overlooking critical insights that align with Google's own measures of website quality and effectiveness.

If your Lighthouse V10 scores are low, your Google Ranking will be low.

In summary, moving to PWAs from traditional websites, including WordPress-based sites, can provide significant advantages in performance, user experience, accessibility, security, and cost. It’s a forward-looking approach that aligns with modern web development best practices and can lead to increased user engagement and business growth

We are not really a digital marketing agency, we are a software development company that specialises in building high performance progressive web applications that are designed to win you more business, but we do offer a range of digital marketing services to help you get the most out of your investment.
It's not difficult, you could do it yourself, but if you don't have the time, skills or inclination to do it, so let us do it for you.

Follow these proven steps to get started or scroll down down to the bottom of this page and let us do it for you.

Competitor Analysis

An Essential Strategy for Digital Marketing Success

In today's increasingly competitive digital landscape, staying ahead of the game requires an in-depth understanding of your competition. Competitor analysis is no longer just a buzzword; it's an essential strategic process that enables businesses to identify and evaluate their rivals. This analysis empowers you to discern strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within the marketplace, giving you a vital edge.

Image Description

1. Understanding Competitor Analysis

Competitor analysis is the process of identifying and analysing your competitors, understanding their strategies, strengths, weaknesses, and predicting their behaviour. This comprehensive approach helps businesses to develop robust strategies that not only counter competitors' strengths but also exploit their weaknesses.

In the realm of digital marketing, this translates into a better understanding of competitors' online presence, advertising tactics, SEO strategies, social media engagement, content marketing practices, and more.

2. Why Competitor Analysis is Critical

In an overcrowded market, differentiating your brand can be a complex task. Knowing what your competitors are doing, how they are engaging their audience, and what strategies they are employing can give you an insightful advantage.

  • Identify Industry Trends: By analysing competitors, you can identify emerging trends and stay ahead of the curve.
  • Enhance Your Offerings: Understanding your competitors' products and services helps in improving and innovating your own.
  • Strategic Marketing Planning: It helps in tailoring marketing strategies that can stand out and resonate with your target audience.

3. How to Conduct Competitor Analysis

Conducting a competitor analysis might seem daunting, but with methodical planning, it becomes an achievable task.

  • Identify Your Competitors: Both direct and indirect competitors should be part of the analysis.
  • Analyse Competitor Content and SEO: Understand the keywords they're targeting, their rankings, and the quality of content they produce.
  • Social Media and Advertising Analysis: Scrutinise their social media presence, engagement rates, and advertising strategies.
  • Evaluate User Experience: Analyse their website's user experience, loading speed, and overall design.
  • Use Tools and Technology: Various tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Google Analytics can streamline the process.

4. Turning Analysis into Action

Competitor analysis is not just about collecting data; it's about turning that information into actionable strategies.

  • Develop Tailored Strategies: Your marketing campaigns should reflect the insights gained from the analysis.
  • Monitor and Adjust: The digital landscape is constantly evolving, and your strategies need to adapt. Regularly update your competitor analysis to stay relevant.

5. Ethical Considerations

While competitor analysis is essential, it must be conducted within the bounds of legality and ethics. Respect intellectual property rights, and avoid any tactics that might be deemed as corporate espionage or unethical behaviour.

Competitor analysis is not a one-off task; it's an ongoing process that helps in maintaining a competitive edge in the constantly shifting digital marketing landscape. By offering actionable insights, it facilitates strategic planning and decision-making that aligns with your business goals and the industry dynamics.

Progressive Web Applications

The Future of Online Interaction and Why Your Standard Website May Now Be Obsolete

The digital realm is constantly evolving, and with this relentless growth comes the emergence of new technologies that redefine the way businesses and consumers interact online. One such revolutionary technology is Progressive Web Applications (PWAs). In an era where user expectations are at an all-time high and traditional websites struggle to keep up, PWAs represent a monumental shift that brings the web into the modern age.

What Are Progressive Web Applications?

Progressive Web Applications are web applications built using modern web technologies, combining the best features of both web and native mobile applications. Unlike traditional websites, PWAs provide a robust, reliable, and engaging experience that responds instantly to user interactions, offering a seamless experience akin to a native app.

Why PWAs Are The Future

1. Superior Performance:

PWAs are built to be fast. By utilising service workers, they provide quick loading times, smooth scrolling, and responsive interactions, enhancing overall user satisfaction.

2. Offline Accessibility:

Unlike standard websites that require an active internet connection, PWAs can work offline. They store essential content and functions locally, ensuring uninterrupted access even in unstable or offline conditions.

3. App-Like Experience:

PWAs offer an app-like interface, complete with push notifications, splash screens, and full-screen display. This makes them feel and function like native apps, without the need for downloading from an app store..

4. SEO Benefits:

Unlike native apps, PWAs are indexed by search engines. They provide all the advantages of a web presence, ensuring discoverability and reach, while offering the immersive experience of a mobile app.

5. Cross-Platform Compatibility:

PWAs are built on web standards, meaning they work across all modern browsers and devices. This eliminates the need for separate development for different platforms, saving time and resources.

6. Safety and Security:

Utilising HTTPS and other security measures, PWAs ensure that data is transmitted securely, building trust with users.

7. Easy Updates:

With traditional websites or native apps, updates can be cumbersome. PWAs, on the other hand, allow for seamless updates without inconveniencing the user.

Is Your Standard Website Already Obsolete?

In a world where user experience is paramount, traditional websites often fall short of expectations. Slow loading times, lack of offline accessibility, and subpar mobile experiences are just a few areas where standard websites can struggle. PWAs address these challenges and more, setting a new benchmark for online interactions.

As users continue to demand more from their online experiences, businesses that cling to outdated website models risk falling behind. Embracing PWAs is not merely about keeping up with technological trends; it's about providing the best possible experience for your audience.

Progressive Web Applications mark a significant milestone in the evolution of web technology. They bridge the gap between the web and native apps, providing a unified, powerful platform that caters to modern user needs.

If your business still relies on a traditional website, it's time to explore the transformative potential of PWAs. At Zero42, we specialise in developing Progressive Web Applications that not only meet but exceed the expectations of today's discerning online users.

The future is here, and it's progressive. Contact us today to discover how we can help you stay ahead of the curve and redefine your digital presence with Progressive Web Applications. Don't let your website become a relic of the past; embrace the future with PWAs.

Progressive Web App

A website that thinks it's a mobile app and a mobile app that thinks it's a website, well that’s just genius.

Progressive web apps are a hybrid of two technologies; basically, a PWA is a website that gets downloaded to the device as an offline file, so you can still view content even when disconnected from wifi or mobile data. Furthermore, PWA is allowed access to some aspects of the device's hardware, which is helpful.

  • Blazingly fast – tap, swipe, done
  • Works on EVERY device

2. Fully Managed

We take your exsisting website content and turn it into a Progressive Web Application, optimised for Google Lighthouse 10. We take care of your daily social media posts, cost per click marketing, adwords, organic marketing and web & email hosting for a pre-agreed monthly fee.

3. User Managed

This is where we deliver the PWA to you fully optimised for your business, but you take care of your own marketing, hosting, and ad campaigns.

  • Enhanced User Experience: PWAs offer a smooth and app-like experience on the web, making navigation quicker and more responsive. Unlike traditional websites, they also work offline or on low-quality networks, ensuring that users always have access.
  • Improved Performance: PWAs are optimised for speed and will load much faster than conventional websites. This faster load time can enhance user satisfaction and engagement, and also NOW positively impact search engine rankings.
  • Cross-Platform Compatibility: PWAs are designed to work on any device, whether it’s a desktop, tablet, or smartphone. This flexibility allows businesses to reach a broader audience without the need to create different versions of the site for various devices.
  • Easier Updates and Maintenance: PWAs can be updated without requiring users to download new versions. This makes maintenance more straightforward, and users will always have access to the latest version without any additional effort on their part.
  • Increased Engagement and Conversions: With features like push notifications and the ability to add the PWA to a device’s home screen, businesses can increase engagement with their audience. These features can lead to higher conversion rates as they enable more direct communication with users.
  • Offline Accessibility: PWAs can store information and assets locally, allowing users to access content even without an internet connection. This offline capability can significantly improve the user experience, especially for those in areas with poor or expensive internet access.
  • Security: PWAs are served over HTTPS, ensuring that all communication between the user’s browser and the server is encrypted and secure. This adds an extra layer of protection against common security threats.
  • Cost-Effective: Developing a PWA can often be more cost-effective than building separate native apps for different platforms. By using common web technologies, developers can maintain a single codebase, which can save both time and money.
  • SEO Benefits: Since PWAs are web-based, they are indexed by search engines. Properly built PWAs can thus contribute to better search engine optimization (SEO), making it easier for potential customers to find the business online.
  • Alignment with Modern Technology Trends: As technology evolves, staying up-to-date with the latest trends is vital for remaining competitive. Adopting PWAs aligns businesses with modern web practices, ensuring they are prepared for future changes and innovations in the digital landscape.
